Slicehost To Rackspace
  • We are currently in the home stretch of our journey to transition Slicehost customers onto the Rackspace Cloud platform. We’re really happy to have the majority of Slicehost customers transitioned and using the expanded portfolio of Rackspace products.

    The only set of customers who have yet to be transitioned are those whose credit cards are giving us errors. The current card they have on file is giving us an error for one of the following reasons:

    • Expiration date is invalid
    • The type of card on file isn’t accepted by Rackspace (Discover or Diner’s Club)
    • The billing address on file doesn’t match the one for the credit card

    If you are one of these customers, it’s an easy situation to rectify. Simply log into Slice Manager and update your credit card on file. Cards accepted by Rackspace are Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Once this happens, you’ll be free to transition yourself onto the Rackspace Cloud. Rackspace assisted transition will begin on November 21, 2012 for any remaining accounts.

    If you do not take this action, the following sequence of events will take place:

    November 22, 2012 – Your account will go into Billing Update Status. This means your slices won’t be accessible until you update your billing information via Slice Manager.

    November 29, 2012 – If you haven’t made the billing update, your account will go into suspended status. This means your slices won’t be available and you won’t have access to Slice Manager. You’ll need to contact support in order to restore your account

    December 6, 2012 – If the update hasn’t been completed, we’ll be forced to cancel your account resulting in data loss for your slices.

    The last thing we want to do is cancel any accounts, but we have to complete the transitions and simply can’t do it without proper billing information.

    If you are one of these customers, please take the appropriate measures to update your credit card information. If you need any assistance in the process, simply contact support and they can help you.
