What happens to DNS while rebuilding?

I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, but here goes anyway:
Do the DNS settings (specifically the MX entries leading to Google Apps email) get affected when rebuilding a slice?

Nope -- your DNS resolves as normal as it is essentially independent of your slice(s).
